We all know we must do online marketing but most people find it so confusing. Where to start, what to say, where to post and how often?
You don’t have to be an expert at marketing to get your message out in the right way, at the right time and in the right place. You just need to know your ideal clients well, have a clear understanding of what the outcomes are that you deliver and what your unique selling point and value proposition are.
Which Platforms?
I recommend focusing on the following:
- LinkedIn – a great place to make connections, network, post content and comments and become seen as an expert in your field. You are able to search for your ideal clients and contact them directly and provide them helpful content. LinkedIn has changes massively over the last 12 to 18 months and is one of the best places to be marketing professional services!
- Google My Business – a great way to be found in your local area and fantastic use of Search Engine Optimisation terms that drive traffic to your website from your local area and beyond.
- Web site and blog – position yourself as an expert by providing detailed useful content which also helps you get found via Google Search. Great content is the best search engine optimisation method at the moment. And it is the way to position yourself and your business as experts.
- Facebook Business page – for some Accountants their specific niche enables them to advertise on Facebook effectively. You will need a Business Page with good quality content as a base level. Advertising on Facebook is not for everyone but the people in your target audience are definitely on Facebook so it can be another of your multiple touches that raise awareness of you and your business. Even if Facebook advertising is not for you, you can still use your Facebook Business Page to position yourself as an expert, comment in relevant groups and build a following you can send to your site. Note: Facebook advertising is only good for certain specific niches but a good quality page is powerful social proof – which is good for all.
Where to start?
I recommend you create a long term marketing strategy based on your vision for your business. Your vision of what are you trying to build, by when and how you want to achieve it.
Once the strategy is in place then put together an implementation plan that is achievable. Be realistic about how much time you can and will spend on marketing your business. Realistic but do challenge yourself.
If you want more of your ideal clients then marketing your business is the way to get them. You don’t need to be an expert but you can easily be good enough. Online marketing is a great low cost way for you to get your business in front of the right people, in the right way and at the right time to help them learn about what you can do to help them develop their business.
Your ideal clients need you – so start learning how to help them find you.
Have a great day.
